Provenance:
The Royal collections of Saxony, Japanese Palace, Dresden, delivered in 1725
Twenty-four "kleine Aufsatz Bouteillen" [small display bottles] were delivered to Augustus the Strong's collection in January 1725, as well as another 48 in May of the same year, which were listed in the Japanese Palace inventory of 1721-27 under no. 96 (published in Böttgersteinzeug Böttgerporzellan aus der Dresdener Porzellansammlung (1969), pp. 52-53). Two of these bottles with inventory number 96 - possibly the present lot - were sold from the Saxon Royal collections in Dresden by Rudolph Lepke, 7-8 October 1919, lots 236-237.
