A pair of Meissen small double-handled vases, circa 1735

Of baluster form on a flared foot, applied with two S-scroll handles, painted in Kakiemon style with flowering chrysanthemum bushes on each side, the neck and foot with scattered flower sprigs, the footrim with a turquoise seeded band reserved with iron-red chrysanthemums, the rim with a seeded trellis border, the handles with iron-red Karakusa scrollwork and edged in gilding, 14cm and 14.4cm high, crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue, incised x (restored) (2)
