Footnotes

Literature:
U. Pietsch, Phantastische Welten. Malerei auf Meissener Porzellan und deutschen Fayencen von Adam Friedrich von Löwenfinck 1714-1754 (2014), no. 63

Pietsch suggests that the scene on the tureen of a man being pulled in a wagon was taken from an original Chinese bowl which was in the collection of the Elector, now in the Dresden Porcelain Collections (see Pietsch, op. cit., pp. 75 and 77). Another similar tureen and cover is also illustrated in U. Pietsch, op. cit., no. 62.
