A rare Meissen tobacco jar with a silver cover, circa 1725

The cylindrical form superbly painted with a continuous chinoiserie scene depicting figures engaged in various amusing pursuits, flanked by flowering plants, a fence and various fantasy animals including a dragon, birds and insects in flight, above iron-red lines, gilt scroll- and strapwork borders to the rims, the interior gilt, the silver-gilt domed cover chased with alternating foliate and floral motifs on a stippled ground, ball finial, 15.4cm high overall; the jar: 10cm high (minor retouching to gilt scrollwork, tiny rim chips) (2)
