A rare Limbach figure of a German emperor, presumably Francis I, circa 1775

Wearing a crown, a long puce ermine-lined cloak and a cross on a blue ribbon, with an elaborately patterned costume, on a high base moulded with puce-edged scrollwork, 19.5cm high (right forearm restored)

A similar figure was in the Städtisches Kunstgewerbemuseum Leipzig is illustrated by R. Graul/A. Kurzwelly, Altthüringer Porzellan (1909), pl. XXXVI, no. 1, where it is noted that the pair to this figure, possibly representing Maria Theresia, was in the collection of Hermine Feist, Berlin.
