A Vienna blue-ground gold-mounted oval snuff box, circa 1770-75

With oval panels painted with scenes depicting children in pastoral landscapes, reserved against the dark-blue ground with formal gilt decoration in two tones of gilding, the scenes within scrolling borders, the cover and base with curved panels reserved with floral and foliate motifs, the side with scrollwork columns flanked by trailing floral swags, the inside cover with an elaborate harbour scene in an Arcadian landscape, the mount chased with floral motifs enclosed by scrolling foliage, 9.3cm across, red-painted MAK inventory number Ke 7759.29424 (minor rubbing to base)
