A pair of Meissen figures of Harlequin and Columbine playing instruments, circa 1745

Modelled perhaps by J.F. Eberlein after the models by J.J. Kaendler, both seated on rockwork, Harlequin playing the bagpipes and wearing a colourfully patterned tunic with playing cards on one side and a black pointed hat, Columbine playing the hurdy-gurdy wearing a turquoise hat, white bodice with black stomacher and white and puce striped skirt, the bases applied with leaves and flowers, 13.5cm high, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue to rear of base (him) and in blue (her) (some restoration to extremities) (2)
