A pair of Meissen figures of a musician and dancer, circa 1755

The man playing the recorder and carrying a large drum decorated with green bows, wearing an elaborately patterned purple jacket embellished with yellow bows over pale yellow breeches, the lady with her right arm raised, wearing a purple hat with feathers, a yellow bodice, green skirt and apron decorated with indianische Blumen, the bases moulded with gilt-edged scrollwork and applied with leaves and flowers, 18.8cm high, crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue to the rear of the bases, incised z or 2 (minor restoration) (2)
