Extra illustrated with engraved portraits and views throughout. Full brown morocco lettered in gilt with profile of Johnson at the head of spines by Riviere and Sons.
Provenance: bookseller's ticket to rear pastedown (Palme, Howe & Co., Manchester); title page of Sotheby's catalog for Library of J.B. Gaskell, Liverpool, January 25, 1926, laid in to volume I.
