One of The Largest Amethyst Geodes in the World
Artigas, Uruguay
The present specimen is arguably one of the largest and best Uruguayan geodes to emerge on the market. With its vivid, violet amethyst color and the presence of very rare yellow hemispherical calcite crystals, this is a world-class specimen without peer. Depending on the light and the angle of observation, one can see various lilac, rose and bluish amethyst hues. The luster of the crystals is exceptional for a specimen of this size and there is scintillation of light--a veritable sparkling of thousands of stars deep within the geode cavity. Convoluted ridges abound, as well as mound formations which emerge from the geode. A world class specimen of exceptional quality this is, to the best of our knowledge, the largest available amethyst in the marketplace and the largest to be offered at public auction. Weighing approximately 13 to 15 tons. Measuring 5 x 2.3 meters
