ITO TOZAN II (1871-1937)

A porcelain bowl with underglaze decoration and a porcelain sweet dish with enamel decoration
Taisho (1912-1926) or Showa (1926–1989) era, 1920s-1930s

The first with slightly everted rim and deep foot ring, the exterior decorated in cobalt blue and iron brown under a crackled glaze with three panels of peonies separated by lattice patterning, signed near the foot with an impressed underglaze mark Tozan
With a wood tomobako storage box inscribed Sometsuke hana-e bachi (Bowl with flowers in underglaze blue), signed Tozan tsukuru (Made by Tozan), and sealed Tozan
The second with a hemispherical body decorated in red and green enamels and gilding with a lively design of karako (Chinese boys) at play, the interior with a band of formal ornament at the rim and a central roundel with reishi fungus, signed on the base with an impressed underglaze mark Tozan
With a wood tomobako storage box inscribed Karako moyo kashiki (Sweet dish with Chinese boys), signed Oju Tozan tsukuru (Made to order by Tozan), and sealed Tozan
