A fine Satsuma vase
Meiji era (1868-1912), circa 1900

Cylindrical with a splayed foot and a rolled rim painted in polychrome enamels and gilt, decorated with a scene of children in festival floats, pine trees and distant mountains all partially obscured by cloud patterns painted in russet-brown, and with vertical panels with Sanjo Bridge, and birds in flight, the rim and foot painted with floral bands, signed on the side Sozan and sealed Gakudo (?), and with impressed signature on the underside Kinkozan
