a Set of five stoneware mukozuke (food vessels)

Karatsu ware, E-Garatsu (Painted Karatsu) type
Momoyama (1573-1615) or Edo (1615-1868) period, early 17th century

Each cylindrical with a squared rim above an incised line, set on a low ring foot and decorated in brown iron oxide with hagi (bush clover) and sasa (broad leaf bamboo), and covered with a milky feldspathic glaze with a slight crackle, the rim also painted in brown iron oxide, the design showing red where the glaze is thin, the foot unglazed
With a wood tomobako storage box inscribed on the cover E-Garatsu mukozuke and with a paper label inscribed E-Garatsu nozoki (peep into) mukozuke, go iri
