Folio (375 x 235 mm). 237 full-page woodcut plates after Hans Burgkmaier, Hans Schaufelein, Hans Springinklee and Leonhard Beck, woodcut initials, head- and tail-pieces. Rebacked contemporary calf, gilt ruled. Dampstaining to upper corners, minor spotting throughout, most plates on facing pages in reverse sequence, but generally in numerical order.

FIRST EDITION. A romanticized authobiography dictated by Maximilian I to his personal secretary Treitz-Saurwein, but not completed until after the Emperor's death. Lipperheide 649.
