no. 2517, Zurich, before 1905, 1895 patent, mahogany case, brass shell-form handles at sides, hinged lid, printed instructions and dividing tool underside of lid, device with 10-digit selector swith, 8 input levers, 8 window "divisor" register, 8 window "dividend" register, 16 window result register, 667 x 305 x 195 mm (26 1/4 x 12 x 7 3/4 inches).
Provenance: The Computer History Collection of Serge Roubé.
"The Millionaire," designed by Swiss engineer Otto Steiger, was capable of direct multiplication. Hans Egli began making the calculating machine based on Steiger's patent soon after.
