Autograph Manuscript Initialed ("A.E."), [Pasadena, 1931] 1p, 4to, in German, to Pazifistischen Studenten Südkalifornien, paper evenly toned.
EINSTEIN'S AFFIRMS HIS BELIEF IN PACIFISM.
Written during Einstein's time at Caltech in Pasadena, he informs the Pacifist Students of California that he in unable to appear at their presentation. In part, translated: "[Further, is is not in the sense of the Oberlaender Trust to whom I am indebted for my trip this year to California that the speech held under its auspices be affected in its effective from more or less similar speeches by me of fairly similar content.
"I have therefore been forced to decide retroactively to stay away from your presentation. However, please do no think therefore that it is less near to my heart. I am rather convinced that the decisive pacifistic activities of student youth is of great importance.]"
