A Minai pottery water bottle
Persia, 12th/ 13th Century

of compressed globular form with slim cylindrical neck surmounted by a flaring terminal with flattened shoulder and everted rim, decorated underglaze in cobalt blue and turquoise on a white ground and overglaze in red and black with a series of cartouches formed with palmettes and other vegetal motifs, some filled with pseudo-inscriptions, the shoulder with a series of roundels containing stylised lotus motifs, the shoulder of the neck with pseudo-inscriptions interspersed by roundels

The result of Oxford Thermoluminescence test number N120c48 (5 March 2020) is consistent with the dating of this lot.
