Inscriptions: the shahadah and Qur'an, sura IX (al-tawbah), part of verse 33.

The Ghurids, a dynasty of the eastern Iranian lands, began as local chiefs in Gür – the heartland of Afghanistan. Mu'izz al-Din together with his brother Ghiyath al-Din extended their rule into Northern India from the City of Multan in Sind to Gaur in Bengal. These conquests laid the foundation for subsequent Muslim rule in India.
