with three lines of inscription in kufic surrounded by a band of inscription in kufic to each side, good extremely fine and very rare
20 mm. approx; 4.25 g.

Inscriptions: the basmalah; a form of the shahadah and a shorter version of Qur'an, sura IX (al-tawbah), part of verse 33 with the added, 'Muhammad, the Messenger of God'.

The mint name Ifriqiya was almost certainly the city of Qaryawan in Tunisia. Umayyad dinars with a named mint are generally very rare.
