Cordoba, Andalusia, dated AH 108/ AD 726-727 and AH 119/ AD 737-738

each with four lines of inscription in kufic surrounded by a band of inscription in kufic to one side and three lines of inscription in kufic surrounded by a band of inscription in kufic to the other, areas of minor weakness, otherwise both extremely fine and rare
each 27 mm. approx.; 2.93 and 2.95 g. (2)

Inscriptions: Qur'an, suraCXII (al-Ikhlas), (omitting the first 2 words); a form of the shahadah and a version of Qur'an, sura IX (al-tawbah), part of verse 33 with the added, 'Muhammad, the Messenger of God'.

The Umayyad dirham for Andalusia was mainly struck for the payment of taxes and is very rare.
