These paintings by the Amritsar artist Kapur Singh are from a dispersed album of portraits and costume studies, commissioned by an officer in the 1st Grenadiers, Bombay, Augustus W. Honner, for him to send, or take back to England. Kapur Singh became well known to the English in the Punjab. For a discussion of the album, see M.
