in the form of a turban with a central band ornamented with a plume holder in the form of a palmette, the forehead with steel mount terminating in a palmette, padded cotton lining to interior

Footnotes

This helmet was made to resemble the type of turban worn in India in the 17th century and was formed in three separate pieces: the wide band encircling the head, the crown and the rounded section over the forehead.
