Central Asia, probably Bokhara, 19th Century

Arabic manuscript on cream-coloured paper backed with linen, in scroll form, the text written in naskhi, thuluth and nasta'liq scripts in black ink, proper names contained within gold circular devices, borders decorated with floral motifs in colours and gold, the bismallah written in bold thuluth script and the shahadah written in ornamental kufic and thuluth in black ink on either a gold or floral ground, surmounted by an illuminated headpiece in colours and gold
approx. 657.5 x 26 cm.
