An English Silver-Mounted Hanger
Late 17th Century, Maker's Mark Of Thomas Vicaridge

With curved fullered blade (some pitting) double-edged towards the point, hilt comprising rear quillon with rounded terminal cast, pierced and chased with a cherub's head on a double scroll, foliate engraved quillon-block, knuckle-guard cast on each side with hounds against punched grounds, one pursuing a stag, the terminal hooked into the pommel-cap and cast, pierced and chased as a monster-head emerging from foliage, pommel-cap with a cherub's mask amid foliage in relief, and natural buckhorn grip (old repair) with silver basal ferrule
