A Spanish Left-Hand Dagger
Late 17th Century

With slender tapering blade of flattened hexagonal section incised 'TOMAS AIALE' between orb-shaped marks within the fuller on one side and 'IN TOLEDO' within the other, ovoidal ricasso hollowed for the thumb on one side, hilt comprising triangular guard with turned edge, straight quillons of circular section with swelling tips, compressed bun-shaped pommel with button, and grip bound with thin twisted copper wire between iron ferrules
