A Large Turkish Silver-Mounted Jambiya
Indistinct Tughra Mark, 19th Century

With curved tapering double-edged blade of finely watered wootz steel, waisted silver-covered hilt engraved with chevroned bands of foliage on the outside between borders of applied decorative silver mounts, the inner side chased with flowering foliage with borders of running arabesques, and arched pommel set with three silver florets between two bosses within a plaited border, in original wood-lined silver scabbard embossed and chased en suite with the hilt on the outside, and with panels of scrolling flowering foliage on the other, the locket en suite with the outer borders on the hilt, cast spherical terminal, and suspension loop on one side
