A 22-Bore Flintlock D.B. Brass-Mounted Carriage Pistol
By J. Probin Of Birmingham, Circa 1780

With sighted barrels signed 'J. Probin' along the rib and each engraved with a band of foliage at the back of the breech, grooved border engraved tang, signed border engraved rounded locks, figured half-stock (old split on one side of the fore-end, chipped above the tail of one lock) with swelling rounded butt, border engraved mounts comprising spurred pommel, trigger-guard with pineapple finial (tip missing) and engraved with a flower-head on the bow, and fore-end cap decorated with a starburst on the tang, turned ramrod-pipe, and later horn-tipped wooden ramrod (escutcheon replaced, barrels, locks and triggers with some pitting), private Birmingham proof marks
