With bright slightly swamped barrel engraved 'London' within an elongated loop along the top flat at the breech, border engraved tang decorated with foliage, signed border engraved rounded lock, figured full stock (split at the muzzle and beneath the lock) with swelling rounded butt, border engraved brass mounts comprising flat side-plate decorated with foliage and a scallop shell, trigger-guard with flower-head on the bow and foliage on the finial, turned ramrod-pipe, and brass-capped ramrod (incomplete), London proof marks and Foreigner's mark

Probably by William 4 Shepherd, apprenticed to Nathaniel Trevey in 1731. He is recorded as a gunmaker specialising in naval firearms (including cannon) at Rotherhithe between 1754 and 1756. He died in 1776
