A Fine Cased Pair Of 50-Bore Percussion Travelling Pistols

With browned twist octagonal sighted barrels, case-hardened breeches each engraved with a foliate scroll on top between platinum lines, pierced platinum plugs, border engraved case-hardened tangs decorated with foliate scrollwork, signed border engraved flat locks and dolphin hammers en suite and retaining nearly all their original lacquer, the former each with engraved safety-catch, highly figured full stocks with chequered rounded butts, the latter each with border engraved silver cap decorated with a starburst around the retaining screw, blued steel D-shaped trigger-guards and slotted rear ramrod-pipes, the former each with pineapple-shaped finial and decorated with scrolling foliage on the bow, blued triggers, dark horn fore-end caps (one with minor repair), vacant silver escutcheons and barrel-bolt escutcheons, original brass-mounted ramrods, and retaining nearly all their original finish: in original mahogany case fitted and lined in plum velvet with accessories including brass-mounted three-way powder-flask covered in red leather (scuffed, seam open), steel bullet mould and bright steel oil bottle, the interior of the lid (slender old split along the back) with maker's trade label, the exterior with circular vacant brass escutcheon, London proof marks
