With rebrowned twist sighted barrels signed along the rib, breeches each with gold line and engraved with a starburst between, gold-lined touch-holes, plain tang grooved for sighting, signed flat bevelled locks (one mainspring and one cock retaining screw replaced, top of one steel repaired, one cock a working replacement, probably by the maker) each with stepped tail, semi-rainproof pan and roller acting on a ramp on the steel spring, figured half-stock (old bruising and some repairs, the latter mainly around the lock cavities) with cheek-piece and chequered grip, border engraved steel mounts comprising butt-plate decorated with a gundog retrieving a gamebird in a landscape on the heel tang, trigger-guard retaining traces of blueing and decorated with gamebirds in a landscape on the bow and with a foliate scroll on the scrolled tang, large pineapple finial, and rear ramrod-pipe with foliate finial, silver escutcheon engraved with owner's crest, and later brass-mounted ramrod (some wear and light rust patination), London proof marks
