A Rare Cased .450 (52-Bore) Westley Richards Patent Breech-Loading 'Monkey-Tail' Carbine

With blued sighted barrel (small areas of rust patination) rifled with bright spiral grooves and stamped 'Whitworth . Patent' at the breech, folding leaf back-sights each with central platinum line and folding adjustable long range sight calibrated to 800 yards, blued breech-lever stamped 'Westley Richards' and with triangle mark, signed flat case-hardened lock dated in a triangle on the tail, case-hardened hammer with blued safety-bolt in front, figured full stock with chequered pistol-grip and fore-end, the former with case-hardened cap, blued steel mounts (some loss of finish) comprising butt-plate, trigger-guard and fore-end cap, the first with circular hinged butt-trap cover opening to reveal cavities for cleaning tools, chequered trigger, sling mounts with original leather sling, original steel ramrod, and retaining much of its original finish: in original fitted deal case numbered to the carbine, the interior of the lid with maker's Directions labels for Loading, Cartridge and Mould, the exterior with steel mounts and remains of old paper labels, Birmingham proof marks
