A Spanish 16-Bore Miquelet-Lock Belt Pistol
By Astiazaran-Ribas Of Placencia, Early 19th Century

With two-stage barrel with turned ring around the muzzle, turned girdle chiselled with repeated foliage against a gold ground, octagonal breech inlaid with gold foliage, the top flat inscribed 'Errad.s' in gold capital letters and with unidentified gold-lined maker's punzóne (gold mostly missing) between three gold-lined fleur-de-lys (gold missing from two) and cross, gold-lined touch-hole, border engraved tang, border engraved flat bevelled lock stamped with maker's punzóne of Astiazaran-Ribas (Neue Støckel 16) and obscured inscription 'Hermu...', foliate engraved steel, figured full stock (broken and chipped through the grip), steel mounts engraved with foliage and rocailles comprising shaped side-plate, spurred rounded pommel, the cap engraved with a helmeted male profile bust, trigger-guard in the French fashion with further maker's gold-lined punzóne, belt hook, turned ramrod-pipes, and later wooden ramrod (some wear and rust patination)
