Converted from flintlock, with octagonal polygroove rifled barrel inlaid with silver scrollwork on the upper flats, signed in silver along the top flat and with circular silver-lined maker's mark at the breech, foliate engraved tang with two folding leaf back-sights, flat bevelled lock with safety-catch, figured full stock (worn, old splits and slightly reduced at the muzzle) inlaid with silver wire scrollwork on the side-flat, around the barrel tang, down the back of the butt and around the ovoidal pommel, the latter with foliate engraved cap, chequered grip, border engraved steel escutcheon and trigger-guard, the former with a starburst, the latter in the French taste with pineapple finial and decorated with a martial trophy and foliage on the bow, turned ramrod-pipes, adjustable set trigger, and horn-tipped ramrod, probably original
