A 10-Bore India Pattern Flintlock Service Musket
Early 19th Century

With bright barrel and fore-sight also forming the lug for the bayonet, plain tang, border engraved rounded lock with 'GR' crowned and 'Tower' across the tail, border engraved ring-neck cock, figured three-quarter stock (minor old bruising), regulation brass mounts including butt-plate engraved '400' over 'RF' and 'F' over '5', sling mounts with whitened buff-leather sling, original steel ramrod incised '400 45', socket bayonet with blade of hollow triangular section numbered '426' at the forte, and in fair condition, King's proof marks (2)

Footnotes

The marking on the butt-plate probably stands for Royal Fusiliers, F Company, musket number 5 within the company. The number 400 could be the regimental musket number
