A Fine .577/.450 Martini Henry Mark II Service Rifle
By The Birmingham Small Arms & Metals Company, No. 3625, Dated 1889

With blued sighted barrel with bright bore and retained by two blued barrel bands, the forward one with bayonet lug on the right, blued calibrated adjustable back-sight, blued action stamped with Cape Government mark on the top and on the right with 'V.R.' crowned above the maker's details, date and model number, figured butt and fore-stock, the former stamped with circular maker's mark on one side above '11' over '1', other cancelled marks and numbers to the left, regulation steel mounts, sling loops with an original leather sling, original steel ramrod, and in fine condition retaining nearly all its original finish; together with a socket bayonet with bright blade of hollow triangular section, and blued socket, in its brass-mounted black leather scabbard, the locket with frog-hook, Ordnance proof marks (2)
