A Rare German Composite 'Maximilian' Full Armour
Circa 1520

With characteristic fluting between incised double line borders overall, the main edges variously roped and plain (some areas of pitting and minor patched repairs, tassets associated or later, arms not a pair, cuisses probably original but with later fluting, visor lifting-peg replaced), the breast-plate with hinged curved lance-rest, and struck with the Nuremberg mark on the front lower gorget-plate (rubbed) and on each top plate of the arms: on a wooden stand painted black
