A Composed Pair Of Italian Pauldrons And Vambraces
Late 16th Century

The pauldrons of three plates extending over the front and rear, the larger lower plates each embossed with a volute on both sides, and linked by four downward lapping plates and a turning joint to the vambrace, the latter comprising upper and lower cannons, the lower in two parts hinged together and secured by a pin-catch, articulated above and below to a couter with side-wing, the edges embossed and roped, and the main edges turned and roped (replacement dome-headed rivets and leathers, some patched repairs and some surface pitting) (2)
