A Gauntlet For The Left Hand
Late 16th Century, Possibly Greenwich

Of bright iron russet on the inside, the tubular cuff with riveted join along one side, slightly flared at the hand and incised with pairs of line ornament above and below, metacarpal plate with upper border en suite, three finger defences and knuckle-plates all articulated on side rivets, the knuckle-plates each embossed and roped between pairs of incised lines, and thumb-defence en suite (some rivets and leathers replaced)
