A Composite Harquebusier's Half-Armour
The Breast- And Back-Plate Mid-17th Century

Of blackened iron, comprising a pot helmet with rounded two-piece skull riveted together, bluntly-pointed fixed fall with turned edge and pierced for an adjustable bar-nasal secured by a wing-headed screw, neck-guard embossed with simulated lames and with turned recessed border, hinged cheek-pieces each with raised roundel pierced with small holes over the ear, and dome-headed rivets, breast-plate with low medial ridge, and with a later hook on each side for the later leather belt, turned neck and arms, back-plate en suite, later adjustable shoulder-straps reinforced with riveted steel plates, and a bridle-gauntlet for the left arm, with rounded elbow-length cuff made in two pieces hinged together and with turned edges and locking pin-catch, the upper border followed by an engraved double line, the hand of five overlapping metacarpal plates and knuckle-plate all articulated on dome-headed rivets, finger scales on leathers, and hinged thumb-defence en suite
