A Composite English Pikeman's Half-Armour
Mid-17th Century

Of iron, comprising a pot helmet with two-piece rounded skull (old dents) and low turned comb and plume-holder at the rear, incised on each side with single lines and two dome-headed rivets for ear-pieces (missing), brim with recessed turned border, rivets en suite and struck with an indistinct mark (pitting overall, peaks with old damage), blackened breast- and back-plate, the former with low medial ridge to a short flange pierced with holes for tasset straps (missing), and with turned neck and arms, back-plate en suite and with incised line at the shoulders extending down the back, the neck and skirt with dome-headed lining rivets, later adjustable shoulder-straps reinforced with riveted overlapping plates, and later buff-leather belt
