An Impressive Pair Of 12 PDR. Cast-Iron Cannon
By Walker & Co. of Rotherham, Nos. 87 And 145, Late 18th Century

Each of tapering multi-stage form with raised mouldings and bell-shaped muzzle, the first reinforce each stamped with a broad arrow mark and with the respective weight '20-2-21' and '20-2-24' over '184 4', the second reinforce each with crowned cypher of George III in relief, spiked touch-holes each on a raised block bored to take a flintlock igniter, base-rings each incised on the left side with quarter-sight scales from '1 to 4', left trunnions incised 'WCo' and the right trunnions with the respective serial number, and knob-shaped cascabels: on expertly made stepped wooden carriages of garrison type with original iron trunnion mounts, restraining rings and pierced trucks (2)
