A Scottish Basket-Hilted Broadsword
Probably Second Quarter Of The 18th Century

With earlier tapering double-edged blade with narrow fuller along each side of the forte incised 'IN MINI' between cross marks, iron guard of narrow rounded bars framing side panels between ovoidal panels, all incised with lines and pierced with hearts and small circles, the side panels each with 'ram's horn' terminal pierced with heart, fore-guards, small scrolled wrist-guard, bun-shaped pommel with button, and spirally grooved leather-covered grip (worn) bound with a strand of twisted brass wire between Turk's heads
