Of circular form with a lobed rim and moulded central panel, painted in kakiemon style with the 'Sir Joshua Reynolds' pattern of a long-tailed bird perched on a tall rock issuing flowering branches, the blue border gilt with diaper and foliage, 24.5cm diam, W mark

Footnotes

Provenance
John Alchin Collection

Worcester transformed an earlier Japanese Kakiemon design by adding an intense underglaze blue border. The striking result was always executed with great care.
