A Worcester teabowl and saucer, circa 1756-58

Of octagonal form, painted in blue with the 'Romantic Rocks' pattern (I.B.8), a traveller walking up a steeply angled promontory, a small pavilion in the shade of the rocks and a man in a boat in the foreground, within diaper borders, saucer 11.4cm diam, workmen's marks (2)

The pattern is taken from a drawing by Jean Pillement which appears in 'The Ladies' Amusement'. A similar teabowl and saucer from the Zorensky Collection was sold by Bonhams on 22 February 2006, lot 289.
