A Worcester butterboat, circa 1754-55

The exterior moulded with three tiers of overlapping leaves, the profiles of the upper leaves creating an irregular rim, a stalk handle at the side, the interior painted in colours with a central floral spray and four smaller sprigs below the rim, 8.1cm long

This form is rarely found with polychrome decoration and is of an earlier date than the more common blue and white leaf-moulded butterboats. See the example from the Zorensky Collection, Bonhams sale, 23 February 2005, lot 5.
