A Worcester pierced dish, circa 1770

Of lobed oval form, the twig handles applied with flowers and leaves at the terminals, painted with a central panel of 'fancy birds', the blue scale ground reserving four large panels pierced with latticework picked out in puce and gold, smaller panels of insects in between, 27.5cm wide

This form of pierced dish is rarely found. Another example was in the Zorensky Collection, 23 February 2005, lot 134 and another was sold by Bonhams on 17 May 2017, lot 318. See also R L Hobson, Worcester Porcelain (1910), pl.XXVII. All three of these dishes have basket-moulded panels without the applied handles seen on this lot.
