Illustrated by Joseph M Handley, 18th Century English Transfer-Printed Porcelain and Enamels (1991), pp.132-133, item 4.5. These images are from an exceptional series of prints based on the designs of Jean Pillement, a master of chinoiserie. Pillement lived in London during the 1750s and probably collaborated with the engraver Robert Hancock, prior to Hancock's move to Worcester. Pillement's imaginary scenes have been adapted most successfully to fit the shapes of this finger bowl and stand.
