A Worcester creamjug, circa 1753-55

Of lobed pear shape with scrolling silver-shaped handle, painted with the 'Snake in a Basket' pattern of a Chinese figure standing and holding a fan, a 'ruyi' sceptre in a basket and two trees to the right, 8.5cm high

It is rare to find this pattern on a moulded creamjug of this type rather than the usual plain 'Scratch Cross' form. Another is illustrated by Simon Spero. The Klepser Collection (1984), p.31, no.19.
