Footnotes

Provenance
Cohen Collection, Albert Amor 1992 exhibition, no.25
Ralph Kenber Collection

This exuberant pattern appears on deep octagonal saucers, accompanied by teabowls and cups from around 1753-4. A similar teabowl and saucer from the Zorka Hodgson Collection was sold by Bonhams, 10 September 2008, lot 67. Another teabowl and saucer dated circa 1755 is discussed by Simon Spero, The A J Smith Collection (2006), p.215, no.115, its probable later date demonstrated by the shallower saucer and lack of turquoise.
