Footnotes
When Walker Evans returned from Europe, he lived in Brooklyn near to the foot of the Bridge. Evans's first published photographs were those he made of the Brooklyn Bridge, which were published in Hart Crane's epic poem The Bridge.
This print by Evans is a view of the Manhattan skyline taken from the bridge, dating from that same period.
